Acharya Nagrajuna Baalura Aavasam, a place where 28 children are going through the moulding stages of their career and future.
Let me give introduction to this balura aavasam. This place is located in marriguda mandal, Nalgonda district. It is approximately 60 km away from Hyderabad and takes around two hours journey on bus route. This balura aavasam is currently managed by “Grama Bharathi” committee of that mandal.
It is spread over approximately 20 acres where 18 acres is under the development and cultivation of fruit trees and the remaining 2 acres have hostel building, play ground and kitchen.
These 20 acres land was donated by a ‘Sarpanch’ of the mandal in mid 90’ for running development activities. Since that time a group of active people belonging to marriguda formed a committee and started contributing their best to serve the poor/needy in different ways.
Nagarjuna balura aavasam was started by the same committee in 2007 with two children. Now the strength of the aavasam reached 28 out of which 16 are orphans and the remaining belong to very poor families. Some of them are studying in mandal government school and some of those are adopted for free education in a private school.
This committee aims to turn the children as future and responsible citizens of India. Recently this committee celebrated 2nd anniversary of Nagarjuna Balura avasam. They invited some prominent personalities to grace the occasion and promote the activities. This anniversary became a platform to showcase talent of the children in the form of speech, martial arts and dance performances.
Children were so active that I could see their talent exhibited in art, sports, cultural and literary events. I talked with a boy and came to know that he won 2nd prize in state level literary competitions. My opinion about these children, I would say them as Tribal Heros after seeing the performances. I was impressed with the daily time table these children go through and how that takes care of their health, personality and also helps in excelling in extra-curricular activities.
I had an opportunity to be part of this occasion and spend time with the children. It was my uncle Mr. Raghu Ramulu garu who provided me information about this balura aavasam. I shared my thoughts with the committee. It was a satisfying experience by being part of and contributing to such activities. I decided that day and informed committee that I would help the students in providing information on their career opportunities and would continue providing my services for the development of their future in different forms.
Thanks to all my friends namely Bala, Suresh, Chandu, Madhu, Naresh, Sandeep and Karthick for joining and helping me in gathering funds. I would expect they continue the same in near future. Fund was given to the committee and I made sure amount will be utilized for a single year expenses of any child.
There were also some more helping hands that day who contributed their best in donating funds for the development of hostel.
Good points learned from this visit:
Where does god exist? In which form does he exit?
I would say helping somebody in need in the right time is nothing but godliness.
At the instant of time, person who is helping is a god and the help he is doing is the form of god.
Does it mean children who don’t have parents are Orphans?
Definitely not, orphans are the ones who are not kind enough and who do not stretch their hand for helping the needy.
I feel this as a visit which made me think apart from my work and I consider this as a responsibility rather than a service.
